Junior Dragon City Tournament

Twenty eight junior school based sides converged on the Schweppes Centre for the second annual Junior Dragon City Tournament. Sides from Bendigo, Horsham, Albury, North and East Melbourne made the trip to Bendigo to take part in the one day tournament . And why wouldn’t they? Bendigo always runs a great tournament.

  • Under 17 Boys: An undefeated  Greater Melbourne Volleyball Academy defeated  St Bernards in a match that displayed some powerful hitting 2-0 (25-21, 25-13).
  • Under 17 Girls Honours:  Although Upwey seemed to have the upper hand in the pool games, Greater Melbourne Academy won a  see -sawing  final 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 15-11).
  • Division 1 Under 17 Girls:  Horsham def Girton Barbies 2-0 (25-17, 25-22).
  • Under 15 Boys Honours:  Girton Sourcerers def St Bernards 2-1 (25-23, 23-25, 15-12)
  • Division 1 under 15 Boys: An undefeated Boys Bendigo South East College def Billanook  2-0 (27-25, 25-18 ).
  • Under 15 Girls Honours:  Upwey def Billanook 2-0 (25-19, 25-18).
  • Division 1 of the Under 15 Girls: Upwey def Girton 2-0 (25-12, 25-14).

The Bendigo Volleyball Association was pleased with the entries into the tournament in its second year of operation and look forward to hosting the event on an annual basis. The Association now looks towards its annual senior tournament the Dragon City Tournament due to be held on the 31st of October and 1st of November.
