Aussie women vs Uzbekistan

Posted by devo on September 11, 2009

asian womens 09At the Asian Women’s Championships today, India defeated Uzbekistan in 5 sets.

That means Australia will play Uzbekistan in one “semi-final”, to determine places 9-12, at 1pm AEST Friday. India plays Hong Kong in the following “semi-final” match scheduled for 3pm AEST.

UPDATE: Aussies defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14) They will play off for the 9th / 10th place tomorrow at 3pm AEST. Controversy in the second set when the Uzbek coach took his team off the court without calling a timeout. He should have got booted in my opinion. more@AussieWomen’sBlog

UPDATE 2: Hong Kong powered past India in an exhausting hard-fought five sets (25-22, 25-17, 21-25, 15-25, 15-12) to next take on old foes Australia in the 9th-10th play-off in the 15th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship more@AVC

Congratulations to the Aussie Women’s Team! I can’t recall a time when the Aussie Women delivered such a flogging to an eastern block team.

Well done to Amanda, Pauline & Nam and all the girls.
